A GOOD 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1780, with 33in. triple-staged barrel, carved band at the intersection, the top-flat at breech inlaid with a gold poincon marked in raised letters 'CLEMETSHAW, ALDBOROUGH' along with 'V*P' and a crown, London proofs, floral engraving to top-strap with a sunken sighting groove, gold-lined touch-hole, slightly curved flat bevel-edged step-tailed lock signed 'CLEMETSHAW', rain-proof pan with roller-frizzen, walnut half-stock with skip-chequering to wrist, low comb with wide toe, iron furniture including pillar-fronted trigger-guard bow and two escutcheoned barrel keys, original horn-tipped ebony ramrod
